Alexia Banica

(Romania)

Picture

"Fluffy Fire," Charcoal on Paper, 100 x 70 cm

Alexia Banica was born in 2003 in Romania, in the quietly magical city of Pitești, and is currently living and working in Bulgaria as an outsider artist. Through figurative charcoal and mixed media, she investigates human emotion as seen through a window of a psychological dreamlike state.

"The only way to heal the scar on the left wrist is by holding a brush in the right hand" (quote from the Soul, not the Ego), and so Alexia continues to bring smiles to people's faces through unfinished lines and distorted gestures. Recurring themes in her practice are substances, old paths and archetypes, tits, and the infinite scenarios of precise emotion. The key to her creative process lies in the daydream, an obsession for feelings which are later explored through the instability of the form, reflecting that of the inner states.
