100% PROCESSED, Toy Processed Foods, EZ Sculpt, Apoxie Sculpt, Plywood, 15”H x 25”W x 5”D,
I take to heart a Truism by artist Jenny Holzer, “When you throw something away, what
does away mean?” Based in Savannah, Georgia, my work reconsiders
found objects in relation to the form and function of a cargo ship as a vessel for
consumerism. I am committed to working with found materials destined for a
landfill, repurposing common objects and metals to exist anew as works of art.
The ship is a powerful form, heavy and weightless, loaded as a carrier of
meaning. All these transported materials from manufacturers, which end up
discarded, become the source of cultural and personal metaphor.

FOUND OBJECT SCULPTURES

These sculptures cover a range of repurposed mixed media elements. They
incorporate household items, toys, and game parts where the enduring histories
of personal associations remain present. Paradoxical forces are at work in these
sculptures as the light play of childhood merges with the heavy weight of the
logistics of adulthood.
