Artist's Statement

Nightmares explores the fragile boundary between fear and imagination, where the subconscious reveals what we try to suppress in waking life. Through distorted forms, shadowed narratives, and unsettling imagery, the exhibition invites viewers into a world shaped by anxiety, memory, and desire. These works confront the darkness that lingers beneath the surface — not only to disturb, but to reflect the deeply human experience of vulnerability, uncertainty, and transformation. In facing our nightmares, we uncover the hidden emotions and truths that define us.

The eternal flesh, from the very moment of its birth, embarks on the path toward death. In the continuous process of self-correction, we bear countless heavy shackles. As the crisis of existence brought by the dissolution of the flesh looms, we seem powerless—seeking only metaphysical refuge in dreams. But when the dream awakens, the sanctuary of our flesh vanishes as well. It turns out that everything in the cosmos is so insignificant.

Human life bears too many responsibilities. In different spaces and times, we play countless important roles. Tiredness and heartache, helplessness and powerlessness, vanity and compulsion— it seems we have no choice but to exist in this way. Only in dreams can we step into our own world and complete a redemption not swayed by the outside world."
