"Bring me all of your dreams, you dreamer." --Langston Hughes
Acrylic, Photo Transfer
48 x 58 inches

"My work investigates concepts of identity, trauma, feminism, and resilience, in relation to my life as a Korean-American now in Los Angeles. After a 25-year social
justice career in NYC, DC, and L.A., I am interested in the complicate intersections
of race, gender, and identity, including the traumas that have shaped the
Korean diaspora.

I incorporate numerous materials and processes: acrylic, oil, spray paint, photo transfer, collage, silkscreen and text/ typography. Collage, with its inherent fragmentation and juxtaposition, is my tool for representing the fractured nature of memory and identity. One idea slides into another, one memory evokes another.

Layers of recurring motifs and unconscious memories intermingle,
with no clear resolution. My work lays out possibilities for
social change, influenced by my experience and understanding of how multiple systems of inequality intersect for women of color."
