About the Artist
Born in 1917, Haiping Chen graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Sichuan Art College in 1937. He was a classmate who shared the same dormitory with Lu Shi, a member of the China Artists Association, and was awarded the title of "National Meritorious Artist" by the Ministry of Education.
He was a close friend of Wang Chaowen, former Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association.
In the 1940s, he co organized exhibitions with Shanyue Guan, Yanshao Lu, and Shaoang Zhao, and was one of the most influential older generation painters in Sichuan. He has held solo exhibitions in various parts of the world, including the United States, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shenzhen, Chengdu, etc., and has been reported by multiple media outlets such as CCTV, Hong Kong Business Daily, Sichuan TV, Guangdong TV, etc. His works have been collected by cultural and museum units and individuals in the United States, France, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China.
